Using this website

By accessing and using sozosei.sg (the "Website"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Website.

The Website is provided primarily to present Sozosei Studio's work, services, Journal content and contact information. Information on the Website is general information only.

Nothing displayed on the Website by itself creates a client relationship, a binding quotation or a contractual engagement. Any commissioned work is governed by the specific proposal, quotation, statement of work or agreement accepted between Sozosei Studio and the client.

Sozosei Studio may update the Website and these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms become effective when published on this page, unless otherwise stated.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore.

02 — Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, the design of this Website, its original written content, Sozosei branding, original graphics, animations and other original material created by the studio are owned by or licensed to Sozosei Studio.

Client names, trademarks, logos, photographs and project materials remain the property of their respective rights holders. Portfolio work is displayed for the purpose of describing Sozosei Studio's work and involvement, subject to applicable contractual and intellectual-property rights.

You may

  • Link to publicly available pages on this Website.
  • Quote brief portions of this Website for legitimate commentary or reference, with attribution, where permitted by law.

You may not, without appropriate permission or another lawful basis

  • Reproduce substantial parts of this Website's content.
  • Republish portfolio work shown on this Website as your own.
  • Commercially exploit content from this Website.
  • Scrape, crawl or otherwise systematically extract content from this Website.
  • Remove ownership, copyright or attribution notices.

03 — Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Disclaimer & liability

This Website and the information on it are provided on an "as available" basis. Sozosei Studio makes reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and the Website operational, but does not guarantee that content will always be complete, current, uninterrupted or error-free.

This Website may link to third-party websites or resources for your convenience. These are outside Sozosei Studio's control, and Sozosei Studio is not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sozosei Studio excludes liability for losses arising solely from reliance on general information on this Website, or from an inability to access the Website.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable Singapore law.

04 — Privacy Policy

Your privacy

Sozosei Studio ("we", "us", "our") respects personal data and handles it in accordance with applicable Singapore data-protection law, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the "PDPA").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data may be collected through this Website or when someone contacts the studio, why it may be used, how it may be protected and retained, and how individuals may make privacy-related requests.

Where consent is required for us to collect, use or disclose personal data, we will seek that consent, rely on deemed consent where applicable, or process the information on another basis permitted under applicable Singapore law.

05 — Personal Data We May Collect

What we may collect

We collect only the personal data reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. Depending on how you interact with the Website, this may include the following.

Enquiry information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • The subject or service you select
  • Any project or message information you choose to provide

Communication information

If you email us directly or otherwise correspond with us, the content of that communication and any personal data included in it.

Technical and usage information

General information about how the Website is accessed and used — such as browser or device information, the page you arrived from, and pages viewed — some of which may be processed by the analytics and security service providers described in Section 07.

We do not currently operate website user accounts, a customer database through the Website, or a newsletter or marketing mailing list.

06 — How We May Use Personal Data

How we may use it

Personal data described above may be used for purposes including:

  • Responding to enquiries and considering potential projects.
  • Communicating with prospective or existing clients.
  • Delivering agreed services and administering client relationships.
  • Operating, securing and improving the Website.
  • Understanding Website usage in aggregate.
  • Preventing spam, abuse or automated submissions.
  • Keeping appropriate business records.
  • Complying with applicable legal or regulatory obligations.
  • Establishing, exercising or defending legal rights where necessary.

Enquiries submitted through the Website's contact form are processed through mailer.php and delivered to Sozosei Studio by email; we do not intentionally store these submissions in a separate website customer database. Direct emails and subsequent client communications may naturally form part of our ordinary business or email records, kept for as long as reasonably necessary — see Section 09.

We do not currently use website enquiries to send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not run automated email marketing based on website submissions.

Sozosei Studio does not sell personal data.

07 — Cookies, Analytics & Third-Party Services

Cookies, analytics & third parties

This Website may use cookies or similar technologies for functionality, measurement, security and spam prevention.

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to help us understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the Website. Google Analytics may process usage and device information for this purpose in accordance with Google's own privacy practices.

Contact and enquiry forms on this Website are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which helps distinguish legitimate submissions from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA may process technical and device information in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Not every cookie or similar technology contains personal data, and not every one requires consent under applicable law. You can use your browser or device settings to manage or delete cookies, though this may affect how parts of the Website function. Browser controls are one way to manage cookies, but not necessarily the only way consent can be withdrawn where the law requires something more.

08 — Access, Correction & Withdrawal of Consent

Access, correction & withdrawal of consent

Subject to the PDPA and its applicable exceptions, you may request:

  • Access to the personal data we hold about you, and information about how it has been used or disclosed, within the applicable period.
  • Correction of an error or omission in your personal data.
  • Withdrawal of consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your personal data, with reasonable notice.

Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to continue providing a requested service, or to respond to an enquiry, in some circumstances — we will let you know if that is the case.

We aim to respond to requests as soon as reasonably possible and within applicable statutory requirements. Where an access request cannot be completed within the applicable period, we will provide the information required by law regarding the expected response time.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and a reasonable fee may be charged for an access request where permitted by law.

To exercise any of the above, please contact us using the details in Section 11.

09 — Retention

How long we keep data

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, and for legitimate legal or business purposes. Relevant factors may include whether an enquiry is still active, the duration of a client relationship, contractual or legal obligations, dispute resolution, and legitimate record-keeping.

When personal data is no longer required for a legal or business purpose, we take reasonable steps to delete it, anonymise it, or remove the means by which it can be associated with an individual.

10 — Overseas Transfers

Overseas transfers

We may engage service providers — for example for website hosting, analytics, email or security — who process data outside Singapore in the course of providing those services.

Where personal data is transferred outside Singapore, we take the steps required under applicable Singapore law to ensure the data receives a standard of protection comparable to that required under the PDPA, subject to the Act's applicable requirements and exceptions.

11 — Data Protection Officer & Contact

Data protection officer & contact

Sozosei Studio has designated a Data Protection Officer (DPO) responsible for overseeing compliance with the PDPA. In accordance with the PDPA's requirement to make DPO business contact information publicly available, that contact is set out below.
